I'm still trying to find out more about this core strength idea. But it does seem to fit with the only book on exercise I have ("Body Fit") where it focusses as much on stretches and twists than on lots of repetitive weights or running.

Pilates appeared as a huge fad a few years ago, with supply of classes way less than the demand. But that's all I really know; must look into this as well. Maybe the gym at work will have suitable sessions, rather than just the spin classes on the bikes?

Interesting about the core strength - I didn't know that! Perhaps it means that Mel is better off doing her pilates than joining me on my runs or bike trips!
